I wanted to fairly share this story with all of you. As students of A Course In Miracles, certainly one of my goals is to look at each moment as an opportunity to practice forgiveness.
I’d one of those moments another day. This is a delicate, yet very tangible connection with the ability of forgiveness in our everyday lives.
I’d just finished my night with the band I assist regularly in Las Vegas. A patron had thrown a $100 chip up onto the stage as a tip.(Nice!) So I went to the casino cage to money in this chip therefore the band could split it up.
As I was waiting in line, another man came up and simply walked right facing me. He didn’t look my way, he just acted as though I was invisible message of a course in miracles, and proceeded to stand facing me. So, my first instict is, like, “uh, you are NOT going to cut facing me, pal”, and I started getting all tense red and in the face and all that. And he, who cut, then was grumbling to himself about how long it was taking in the line!! “Oh, man what’re they doing back there, oh, come ON!!” Geez.
But then I remembered the Course and what it says, so I considered taking a look at this situation differently. I believed, what does it matter if he goes first anyways? Is it going to kill me if I wait an additional 30 seconds to money in this chip which I was fortunate to obtain in the first place? You understand, maybe he just gambled away his whole house or something!
So, I overlook it, and I relaxed.
Something amazing happened. No more than 2 seconds from then on thought, this man turned, looked directly at me, and took his devote line behind me! I was amazed.
This forgiveness stuff really works. Just like the Course teaches , if you select to see things differently, you WILL.
